Best. Description. Of. Myspace. Ever.

From one of my favourite websites, Wonkette

MySpace is a wonderful social networking phenomenon in which millions of
retarded people regular Americans have their own atrocious
blinking-ad-covered websites, each visually horrific "home page"
bleating out some awful pop music and tagged with the illiterate
gibberish comments (or cut-and-pasted rap lyrics) and half-naked
cam-phone pictures of America's fattest teens. It's a place where
born-again illiterate Jesus freaks, tattooed and pierced illiterate
suburban kids, fake gangsta illiterate urban youth, orange-skinned
horse-faced illiterate high-school dropout gals who aspire to celebrity
sluthood or a career in the Army, violent illiterate psychopathic
"Juggalos" and a bedeviled minority of depressed semi-literate goth &
emo teens in the Midwest all come together to show us what the United
States will be like once the current crop of old people dies off.

And to quote the great Mr Ellis:

Always remember: Valentine's Day is a Christian corruption of a pagan festival involving werewolves, blood and fucking. So wish people a happy Horny Werewolf Day and see what happens.

Been catching up on my movie watching today.

First up was INLAND EMPIRE (yes, it's supposed to be in capital letters) the latest David Lynch. This is three hours of pure surrealist Lynch. Mainly filmed on digital video it's the story of an actress played by Laura Dern who get a role in a film that may or may not be cursed as the last time a version of the screenplay was attempted, in Poland early in the 20th century, the two main actors were killed. Maybe. Time folds in on itself, the line between actress and role becomes blurred and then exploded into tiny pieces, Polish circus performers eat hot dogs, giant rabbits iron to a laugh track while waiting for the phone to ring, characters may or may not see themselves in the past/future and a room full of prostitutes do a dance number to The Locomotion. It's an amazing experience and at the moment I think I liked it.

Then I watched Children of Men which is just superb. Just from a technical point of view, there are a couple of. very long, extremely complex shots that are just mind blowing. But luckily there is so much more with great acting and a fascinating story. This says is all so much better than I could
